As I was saying yesterday, I installed my new bucket seat: A Buddy Club P1 Version 2 in wide. This has to be the best bucket seat I’ve ever sat in. Hands down, it’s super comfortable and the ergonomics is phenomenal. I purchased the wide because… well to be honest, I got tired of always crushing my junk getting into a seat that’s made for like a 32 waist (I’m a size H, for Husky.) With the wide seat, I have extra leg room which means room for my junk to chill and relax.
For reference, the wide version can fit up to a 36 waist. I sat in a standard Recaro SPG before and I fit fine. Super snug but if you plan on wearing thick clothes with a jacket, it might be a little too tight. With the Buddy Club wide seat, I can sit comfortably with layers and a jacket. The PCI seat rails accepted the wide seat perfectly as well.
I’ve always liked Buddy Club. I have their special edition shift knob and now their bucket seat. I plan to purchase more of their parts in the future. (Sponsorship please?) I remember hearing about their parts back in the early 2000’s but of course they’ve been around before that. I had to whip out the Hyper Rev Vol. 7 for these pics:
That issue was released back in 1998. When I heard of them in the early 2000’s, they already had their engine internal parts out, which is their performance line of camshafts. I know a lot of people in the US have reviewed their entry cams, Spec 3 and Spec 3+, as “ok” performance camshafts. However, IIRC I remember when I was learning how to dyno tune, I walked up to the shop where I would eventually start working at, and old boy was tuning a circuit car that was using Spec 3+ with 13:1 cr. I remember looking at the dyno graph at the end of the session and that shit read 230whp on a dynojet. I don’t remember what else it had internally but I do remember it was an EG hatch with a built B20V and probably on race gas.
I feel that if you have the “just right” combo, you can get some good gains from their “entry level” camshafts. If you look up their Type IV cams, those numbers are up and above the 220whp mark. You read that right. Cam gears are set at 0,0. I even chatted with the owner about his build and even he was shocked at the gains. Like I said, right combo and then add one hell of a tuner. It is possible. Sometimes you don’t need big cams to make great usable power. I plan to play with their camshafts in the near future. My experience with their Spec 3+ was years ago; dropped into a stock GSR with bolt ons. It had some good mid range and was plenty of fun. Here is a dyno graph from Katman, comparing his graph with Dylan’s EG from back in 2004.
But enough with their power adders. Buddy Club has good quality parts. Their light weight P1 wheels are the shit too! Ok, I don’t want this post to sound like an advertisement so I will end it here. Peace!
